I promise I'll be quick.
Lemme ask you this.
Which do you like better?
(And you can be completely honest about how you feel, because you know that is exactly what I'm going to be in just a minute:)
Do you like conversation?
Do you like silence?
I'm asking because have you noticed how often people confuse talking for conversation these days?
There's like a bunch of new talking trends like:
Who can spew words from their mouth the fastest?
Who can step on the other person's punch line the quickest?
And then there’s the...
Oh yeah, I did that too "verbal tennis match."
Here's a scenario:
You're about to discuss a trip you went on, for example, but before you can finish the story, the person you're speaking with cuts you off just to tell you that they went there too (and of course, their trip was better).
Just can't help shaking my head at all the vacant talking and "one-uping" going on.
The truth is, neither is memorable or remotely close to real conversation.
And neither has the capacity to carry words... from lips to hearts.
REAL conversation is becoming extinct, which is why if I can't connect with a person soul-to-soul, silence plays heavy on my playlist.
Hola if you hear me :-)
